Day 3 Nambucca to Casino

Day 3 Nambucca to Casino 400 ks short ride 27 th sept

Leaving Nambucca motel at 7-45 we travelled along the highway til the turn off to Bellengen
Vic was leading the magnificent seven with Frank and Alan on his back tyre
Again i was tail end charlie just to keep them all in order.
We reached the turn off to a rough short cut that followed the river, Frank and Alan wizzed passed Vic and missed the turn, we gave them a few minutes and waited for their return but to no vail so the 5of us rode this bumpy twisty road and seeing the beautiful valley.
We at last arrive in Bellingen and looking in my rear view mirror they were behind us.
We had breakfast at Juans cafe in Dorrigo it took a little while as he was by himself.

Alan presented Juan a Pale riders t shirt and the photos were taken all round.
Next we Ride the sweeping bends to the New England highway where they had to wait for me as the " boys" were racing and doing over 150 too fast for me.
Next we ride through some valleys and catch a ferry to Mclean and ride the twisties along the Clarence river, having fish and chips at a co- op and then doing a quick run to Yamba to Show Alan the sights..
Back on the highway ! With bumper to bumper trucks and cars just so busy so we turn of to the road to Casino. The "boys "were at it again swapping bikes and going as fast as they could .over 150 this time real stupid .
We arrive at Casino at 4pm and heading now to the pub for a cool ale
Vic is getting better everyday.
Tomorrow we are off to the Sunshine coast. Where warren is getting a new tyre fitted as his is now bald

Nundle to Nambucca 26/9/2012

Day 2 from Nundle to Nambucca
After a great breakfast we set off at 8-15 saying goodbye to Pauline and Neil, and Ian , as they were only coming for the one night.
We meet Frank Henry at the roundabout at Dungowan and we are all ready to ride the twisties .The boys zip and Zap around the corners I am tail end charlie as now way mI can keep this racing pace.
We regroup after about 1 hour and Alan tells us that his boot lace was caught in the chain and snapped nearly throwing him off the bike.He now has 1/2 a boot lace to tie up. He says he will endeavor to tuck them in.
We then head to the Apsley falls on the Oxley highway , then stopping for morning tea at Gingers creek.
Wizzing around the twisties and the logging trucks. We again regroup as they are waiting for me at Long Flat
Frank knows a back road to telegraph point for lunch where Alan lost it on a sharp corner and went into the rough stuff just missing a white post.Him with his motor skills got out of the dilemma .
We then went the back roads to South West Rocks to see the old jail, but  missed the turn in Crescent Head and did a u turn and ended up at the jail.
We are all in dire straits to get petrol and had to do some back tracking to find a petrol station.
We arrived at our destination at 4-45 and now heading for the golf club for dinner.
Vic improved at the day progressed and is now happy and nearly has his memory restored ... He has had a reboot.
Todays ride was just over 500 ks after all the stuff ups.
To morrow we head for Casino

Tuncurry Nabiac

Ride Report - Tuncurry/Nabiac - Wednesday and Thursday 8th/9th August
After one late withdrawal because of sickness at home, there were only eighteen men starters to leave McGrath's Hill promptly at 9.00am and Lyn the lone women
Pete Nagiel volunteered to ride tail gunner.
We headed up Putty Road with the intention of taking morning tea at Singleton where we usually refuel.
Without as much as a 'by your leave', they've started building a high-rise on our usual picnic spot so we had to find a bit of grass further along the street.
Two messages were then read - both from Tail End Pete - the first to say he'd broken down on Putty Road but had been helped to get going by a couple of good Samaritans and had made it back to Windsor where they were preparing a new battery for him, which would take another three hours. The second to be read, but probably the first to have been sent, asked ''what happens when Tail End Charlie breaks down? Who does he turn to for help?''
Being satisfied that Pete was safely on his way home, and in any case, not having any helpful answers to Pete's question, we continued onwards to Dungog where we enjoyed our lunch and a bit more of a chat.
All set again, it was now on towards Gloucester, Nabiac and Tuncurry.
The Sunset Motel always give us a friendly welcome and this time it was just the same if not more so.
We'd reserved a table at the Bowling Club - no more than 50 metres away - for dinner at 6.30 so from about 5.00, we began to regroup in the lounge.
Dinner was inexpensive and the servings generous, so after a good meal and several soothing reds, a great deal more chat and a few more soothing reds, I presume we must all have got back to the motel safely because next morning we were all there ready and raring to go at 8.27am.
Ronnie left us then to go up to Port Macquarie to visit an ancient relative ... and the rest of the day was amazingly quiet.
The Museum folks were waiting for us at nine o'clock and had put on a very pleasant selection of tea, coffee and homemade cakes and stuff (that's a Masterchef technical term) which we tucked into with relish having viewed the 700 plus bikes on display.
Every motorcyclist should visit the National Motorcycle Museum at least once but not a lot changes, so twice is probably more than adequate.
However, we had the mandatory photographs, thanked them for their hospitality and set off on a heading for Gloucester, then all the way down Bucketts Way to The Pacific Highway and the Pie Shop ay Heatherbrae.
Well, those who do not have shares in Hungry Jacks and are not convinced that the burgers are better there, enjoyed the pies, before hitting the freeway for a final bit of chatting at Pie In the Sky where we met up with the day riders.
According to feedback, a good time was enjoyed by all, and if there was ever any doubt, let me put it to rest ... we do know how to enjoy ourselves on these ''overnighters''.
Looking forward to our next one and seeing yerzall next week ...
Phil

July 1 Romania

Romanian tour 17 1 st July
Breakfast at 7-30 at the restaurant that overlooked the Black Sea, clutch out a 9 am.itwas already very hot so we all sat under trees and Matej sort of gave us a briefing ?
It was going to be a fast ride back to Bucharest  , he shortened the route due to the weather as it was going to be 37 c.
We left at 9-10 a up over the white cliffs, Anne nearly  got cleaned up, as she drifted across the road a car was passing us all very fast , there was a great scream of breaks and the smell of rubber as the car just missed her.
We again rode through villages and sunflower fields is was very pretty, stopped for morning tea at a small road side cafe , saw a donkey pulling a cart and then the rotary hoe with is cart all this rural stuff.
We were going to have lunch in Bucharest  ,we got to the border and they took our passports and we waited and waited and waited in the hot sun for over an hour (not happy Jan) after we were processed we headed for a ferry that would take us across the Danube to Romania.
We are patiently waiting our turn to load when Anne and Barry came roaring pass Vic and Neil nearly knocking them over ,Anne screams at the ferry master "get out of my way" as she revved the motor over the steel ramps.
Vic is not impressed  he spoke to them (nicely)  as it now 2 pm we have lunch on the river as we still had 140 kl to go and the heat is oppressive.
Arriving at out hotel at about 5pm champagne welcome drink was had by all in the foyer a very nice gesture

Had a little entertainment  and some of our table participated it was a fun night

June 30 Romania

Romanian tour 16 30 th June
Our rest day and last day in Bulgaria.
Our accommodation is very good every thing that opens and shuts in these apartments.
Our views over the Black Sea are breathtaking with the white cliffs with the sheer drops into the clear flat blue sea.
The weather is just perfect ,so after a lazy start after our breakfast we set out to the beach and have our promise of a swim in the Black sea.

First of all the beach is through this picture perfect  golf course, it is about 1 klm from the resort, so we had a driver in a golf buggy take us there.

Nothing like an Australian beach we arrived and walked on the coarse sand to find a spot to lay in the sun. Each umbrella and little cabana and hammock had a reserve sign on ,so we had to walk further along the beach until we found one.
Stripped of our outer clothes and drive  in  it was cool and not too salty the sea bottom had rocks , and a sand bar but nothing that bites or wriggles   (sharks and eels)
Pauline and I both called  " Vonderbah" a little call we had from the swim in the Adriatic. The information we have been given is on the beach they have a bar with chill out music which at nights switches to party mode ... Party Party Party ;-)

We stayed until lunch time getting redder and redder as the sun was quite strong, so we left looking like cooked lobsters got a buggy back to the resort and had lunch on the waterfront restaurant with amazing views of the sea and the white cliffs.
Lunch over we are again on the move now to swim in the "pond"  (pool) it was 4 tiered , with a spa overlooking the 6th green, the water here was very refreshing (bloody cold) .We did not have any towels but with the sun being very hot we just dripped dried.
Back to our room and have a relaxing and well deserved nanny nap until dinner
Have not seen Matej or Rozle or Kleim to day they all deserve a day off to recover from the stress of " the people".

Our last day on the road is tomorrow when we head back to Bucharest it will be a 400 kl ride and we believe that  temperature  will be in the early 30
