A day trip to Dargle 24/9/2013

Alan's bike is up and running and he has the kilometers on and has had his first service. We set off on our bikes to McGraths Hill to meet Ronnie Knight and Rob Toshack, where Alan presented them with a T shirt each a proud moment for them
.Ronnie was not feeling the best as he is recuperating from a prostrate operation.Saying good bye to Ronnie Vic Alan Rob and I set off for our ride to Lower Portland NSW.
Arriving at my sister Joy and Alan's Home overlooking the beautiful Hawkesbury River.Brother in Law, Alan took us for a tour of his home which has been in his family for generations built by convicts in 1831.Telling us about ghosts, and other things that go bump in the night. Also showing us a pane of glass where one of his ancestors had scratched her name with her diamond ring ,also one length beam over the front verandah.
After our home tour Alan packed us   into his ute .Alan drove Lyn and Vic in the front  Alan M and Rob were in the tray at the back he drove  down to the Turf farm about  1 kilometer ,Alan S proceeded to demonstrate how he cuts and rolls turf with the big turf cutting machine. To give Alan M a feeling of how it was all done he put him on the receiving end to roll and stack.quite a laugh It was a very enjoyable afternoon, after coffee and cake we said our good byes  and headed back to Mt Vernon.
