Day trip to Auschwitz
Again after a hearty breakfast of bread rolls cheese and spicy sausage and black coffee.the bus picked up 12 of us at 9am.I packed us some nice ham rolls for lunch as the trip was going to be a long one
The trip is over 150 kl ms from High Tatras to Auschwitz .The roads were very busy trucks and all sorts of transport, horses and carts, tractors and pedestrians.
The scenery was very rural with many crops growing a lot of haystacks and even gypsies with their wagons.
The hills are very green.
Arriving at Auschwitz at 1pm Martise (our guide) organised a English speaking guide .The tour was to be 3 hours but took 4 1/2 ..We must have walked over 5klms
The guide was very good ,She took us to the general sights and our tour also included a visit to the second part of the camp Birkenau, and was blown away with the size .over 400 acres
The experience was very strong and very sad.
We arrived back at our hotel in Slovakia at 8pm
